Ohio river flooding suspends locking operations at Markland and McAlpine | whas11.com
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — High water is causing issues with locking operations at Markland and McAlpine.
Locking operations at Markland Locks and Dam, as well as McAlpine locks and dam, have been suspended due to high water, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Operations were suspended early Sunday, after close coordination with the U.S Coast Guard and industry partners.
The closures are expected to last until the flooding conditions improve and the Ohio River water recedes.
All mariners should take direction from the lock operators and U.S Coast Guard at McAlpine Locks and Dam.
